Frustrated by Acne Skin Problem - Get Rid of Them

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Dylan Loh Many of us experience acne skin problem in various stages of our lives. And contrary to many popularly held beliefs it doesnt happen only to pubescent and adolescent. It happens to adults too! Follow these simple steps listed down here and youll be on your way to seeing a marked improvement to your acne skin problem! 1. Try getting acne control products that has sulfur or resorcinol. It keeps oil glands unplugged and helps soothes your skin. Another important ingredient to look out for is benzoyl peroxide - it breaks up the plug of bacteria, dead skin cells and oil that blocks the pores and forms an acne blemish on your skin. 2. Do maintain regular skin care. Wash your face at least once a day using mild soap (with warm water) and rub gently with your fingertips. Dont be too aggressive in your washing exercise though, overdo it and it could dry up and irritate your skin. 3. Dont use oily products like hair gel, hair wax; oil based facial moisturizer etc 4. Increase your intake of vitamin A. Drugs that contain them (like tretinoin) has been proven to reduce acne in 50% of the people that has used it. 5. Drink enough water! Drink at least 8 glasses water per day. Increase fiber intake and in addition to eating fresh greens and fruit, choose whole grains. 6. Avoid eating refined sugar and oily foods. Fried foods and trans-fats such as milk, milk products, margarine and other hydrogenated vegetable oils should be stopped right away. Easy Ways To Make Money Through School Fund Raising

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Peter Crump Did you know that school fund raising brings big business to many companies? This is because schools purchase the supplies they need for fund raising in large quantities. The company can easily give a discount because they sell a lot of products at one time. School fund raising is also becoming an important part of school life because it offers schools different ways of fundraising the money they need for the equipment and trips. Schools are constantly on the lookout for fundraising ideas for their next school fund raiser. They have to be creative to come up with unique ideas so that people will attend the fund raiser and contribute to the cause. Every season of the year brings school fund raising events and some are easier for coming up with fundraising ideas than others. Halloween, for example, provides schools with fund raising ideas in the form of a haunted house or a costume ball. This type of school fund raiser needs a lot of volunteers and is best for middle schools and high schools. An idea for an elementary school fund raiser for Halloween could include a Halloween party where the children have an opportunity to take part in games where they win prizes. Quite often school fund raising takes the form of selling items that people need or want to buy. Selling chocolate at Easter, for example, always goes over well as a school fund raiser. Instead of purchasing large amounts of chocolate in hopes it will sell, most schools take orders. The company supplying the chocolate for the fund raiser offers a discounted price along with specials for orders of a certain quantity. They also supply prizes if the school wishes to award prizes for the person who sells the most. Read-a-thons are a specialty for school fund raising. Parents avidly support this type of school fund raiser as it does promote a school activity while raising funds for other programs. Students really get into this type of fund raiser as they compete with the other classes in the school. The principal sometimes sweetens the pot by offering an incentive for the success of the fund raiser, such as offering to shave his beard or come to school dressed in pyjamas. School fund raising is a competitive field, and needs some good ideas. Setting Realistic Goals and Resolutions for Permanent Weight Loss

Monday, January 28th, 2008

By Bill Herren Weight loss is a worthy goal and like any thing else in your life that is worth having It takes effort and is achieved one step at a time. Setting goals for weight loss can put you in a positive mindset and if done properly can set you up for success. On the other hand, an overwhelming goal can discourage you or set you up for failure. Weight loss goals should be part of an overall plan to help you reach your ultimate goal. Let’s say your ultimate goal is to lose x number of pounds. Goals that can help you achieve that weight loss milestone might look something like this: Replace my lunchtime cola with water for the next 30 days When visiting public places I will park as far away from the entrance as possible so that I must walk. I will do this for the next 30 days. For the next 30 days I will plan on eating 6 small meals per day For the next four Sundays I will prepare my food for the following week so that I will be prepared and not be tempted to overeat. 30 days is a timeframe picked for two reasons: (1) It is about the time it takes to establish a healthy habit and (2) It is a small enough timeframe that it does not feel impossible to accomplish. These mini-steps (small changes in your diet and lifestyle) will be what ultimately lead you to your weight loss goal. Some weight loss goals that might leave you feeling overwhelmed and/or set you up for failure are: I will never eat ice cream again I will run every day I am not saying these are bad goals, they are just very large and present no plan for getting there and no feelings of victory on the way. Why not say for the next 30 days, my goal is to not eat ice cream? Then after thirty days have a small bite of ice cream. Enjoy it and then reset that goal along with another. That ice cream will be some of the best tasting, most guiltless ice cream you eat in your life. I have a friend that used to call me from time to time and tell me the lofty goals that he had for losing weight. They usually involved a very strict “diet of the month” as well as a very intense exercise program. He had very good intentions and very good motivation at the time of setting these goals, however, we as humans tend to ebb and flow. When his motivation sagged and he “failed” at one of his goals he subconsciously registered that as a failure. Enough “failures” will discourage the best of us and then next thing you know we are back to our old habits Just like my friend. Our society has set us up to be an “instant gratification” society. We want everything now! I believe in using all the tools at your disposal: Nutritional weight loss supplements, exercise equipment, healthy diet plans, and weight loss programs but beware of the company that sells an easy, quick solution and beware of the goals that do the same. Set your weight loss goals in small, easy to achieve increments and rack up successes. Change your eating and lifestyle habits over time and you will see that eating healthy and being healthy is enjoyable. We have spent years developing the destructive, obesity causing habits that we have don’t expect to reverse them overnight. Bill Herren is the webmaster for http://www.weightloss-articles.com. How to Write a Winning Personal Ad

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By David Kamau This is fact. There’s competition in online dating. A winning personal ad is must if you hope to get the right guy or gal. This article is not about revealing “secrets” of writing personal ads as there’s no such animal. But follow the following tips and you will stand out of the crowd, which you must do to get noticed. First draft your ad on a separate piece of paper or type it on a word-processing document such as Word, WordPad, and Notepad etc. Here are 12 steps to writing a winning personal ad: 1. Be honest: If you’re serious about finding that special someone don’t, repeat don’t, lie. Nothing’s as disappointing as finding out the guy/gal who claimed in emails that he/she works out regularly at the gym is 300ibs of adipose (fat) tissue. 2. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Most people look at the photo before they even think of reading the ad. You may email, upload or mail the photo for scanning, all free. But please don’t use a picture of yourself when you were twenty if you are now 44! And oh yes, a smile helps too. 3. The top-rated dating sites allow you to upload a voice message with your ad. Your voice as well as manner of speech tells a lot about you. Use it the right way- no pretences please- and your ad will get attention. 4. Don’t just say what you think people want to hear. Example, if you say you have a healthy sense of humor, yet your ad is dull and boring well, they just won’t buy it. 5. Be realistic. Maybe you want to introduce some athletic genes into your family tree, but you will have a hard time finding an international Kenyan runner online. 6. Let your personality come through. Conversational style writing works best. If you have a sense of humor, use it but in good taste (don’t tell a dirty joke in a non-adult website, please). Ditto if you have a poetic touch- just don’t baffle them with Shakespearean speak. 7. Create an attention grabbing headline. Don’t be just another “DWM, 42, Seeking Love”. Be different. A little homework will help here. Study the personal headlines that grab your attention. Use these as model. You can even steal a headline or two, just don’t say I told you so (wink). 8. Describe yourself. You do know yourself, don’t you? Don’t be just another “Likes candle light dinners”. Who are you? What’s important to you? Do you enjoy long drives while appreciating nature’s beauty? Do you like Bach or Mozart? List these down. 9. This is more of an extension of #8 above: Instead of rambling on about the person you’re looking for, write about you own characteristics and personality. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and ask yourself what you would like about YOU. List these down. Please be honest. All the same, avoid cheap modesty. If you have a special talent (example, you can play the piano really well), let it be known. Just state it as fact and not brag. 10. Be positive: You may be desperate and miserable, but please don’t let it show. Negativity repels. Likewise avoid “this is me, whether you like it or not” mentality. Not only is it obnoxious, it also reeks of insecurity and/arrogance. Be yourself, positively. 11. Polish your ad: You wouldn’t show up on your first date with unkempt hair and dirty clothes, I trust? Then check your ad for misspellings, bad sentences etc. Remove all the bits that might not interest your potential date. Be brief without losing essence: patience runs very thin online. Re-write till you’re completely satisfied- this might seem a pain in the rear, but the payoff is worth it. 12. BE HONEST! This can never be overstated. Finished? Now you can transfer (or copy and paste) your extraordinary ad on to your favorite dating site and submit. Reblooming Poinsettia

Friday, January 25th, 2008

By Doug Green OK, so Christmas is over and you have a few of those ubiquitous red poinsettias around the house. You just cant stand the thought of sending them out in the cold to the dumpster. And, to top it off, youve heard you can grow them into small bushes and get them to rebloom every year. Well, thats all true and getting them to bloom next Christmas starts right now. You want to grow them in full sunlight. Remember this is a tropical shrub so full sunlight is called for. No back rooms or closets for this plant. You want to feed it sparingly (once a month) until the red bracts fade or fall off and new growth starts. As soon as this new growth starts, pot the poinsettia into a new pot one size larger than its current size. Youll do that every spring as the bracts fade away. Use a good quality potting soil. You will also start feeding the plant weekly with a balanced plant food (like 7-7-7). Do not allow the soil to dry out, poinsettia appreciate regular waterings not swampy but not a desert either. As soon as all danger of frost has gone from your garden, put the pot outside for the summer. Water and feed it well because it is this summer exposure that is going to both grow a great plant and ensure you have winter blooms. In early September, pinch the ends of the new growth off. This forces the shrub to bush out and produce side shoots that will hopefully turn into red bracts as well. Bring inside before frost and put in a room where it only gets natural sunlight. No artificial light! The decrease in light levels will kick it into bloom (artificial light delays the colouring). Repeat yearly until big shrub status is obtained. Exactly Who Do You Invite To Your Wedding?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

By Rob Alberti No, this is not an article about whether or not to invite Aunt Claire to your wedding reception even though you havent seen her in years. And I really dont care if crazy cousin Carl shows up. Lets think about the big picture for a minute. If your goal is to have an intimate family gathering to celebrate your marriage, great. You probably should not invite your 20 fraternity brothers or your heavy metal band mates and their stripper girlfriends. They just wont help you create that intimate family feel to your wedding reception. On the other hand, if you want a high energy party atmosphere at your wedding reception having the majority of your guests over the age of 65 just will not cut it. No, Im not saying that your grandparents should be banned from your wedding reception. We all know great Aunt Marge can be a blast once she gets a few cocktails in her but shes probably not going to dance for more than a hour or so before she gets tired. What I would recommend is that you balance the age and backgrounds of your wedding guests with the atmosphere youre shooting for. The Amish relatives from Pennsylvania might be left off the invite list to make room for a group of young co-workers instead. As a wedding disc jockey it is our job to keep your wedding reception flowing and energized. If your goal is to have an active dance floor then before you even worry about what music to play at your wedding reception, take a hard look at who you have invited. If you provide us with a play list filled with Top-40, heavy dance tunes and R&B, but the average age of your guests is somewhere around 70, you are not going to be happy with the outcome. Your wedding disc jockey will need to play a little something for everyone to enjoy. Balance with your music selection is necessary. So is inviting the right mix of people to your reception. You might want to skip your second cousin twice removed and opt instead to invite the group of friends you go clubbing with each weekend. Small Business Marketing Tip #4: Ego Normous - Learn Marketing From The King

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Jimmy Vee I was reading the latest edition of Adverting Age magazine, an industry pub for us advertising nut-cases. Actually, Im not real fond of the journal too much junk about big brands and million dollar budgets. Not really the game most of our clients play in. But there was an interesting story I thought Id share with you The story is about the battle between Burger King and their National Franchisee Organization. The two organizations are fighting over pricing and promotion plans, including the chains $340 million dollar ad budget!! Over the last year the new ad campaign had been working marvelously. Same-store sales rose 6.8% last year, the best performance in over a decade for the burger giant. But last quarter numbers werent as good, only a 1.1% same-store sales gain. So now franchisees are starting to voice their displeasure. Whats their main beef?? — no pun intended. Is the campaign too narrowly focused?? Most of Burger Kings profit comes from the target, Male Teens. So the agency built the Crazy King, Dr. Angus, Subservient Chicken, Coq Roq and all the other wild campaigns round them. The campaigns have gotten massive attention in this demographic but some franchisees are concerned that they are missing out on other segments of the population, like the women market that McDonalds is focusing their efforts on right now. So the question I pose you all of you isAre the franchisees right? Is focusing your $340 million dollar ad budget on specifically the portion of the population that represents the largest profit center for your company a smart move? I would have to say absolutely YES! It doesnt surprise me that the non-marketing educated franchisees would want to be all things to all people. That is a common mistake among stupid business owners that dont take the time to learn even the most basic fundamentals of the most important part of their business marketing. They are also being resistant to run the specials and promotions that corporate suggests. You must pick a target and stick to it. Be absolutely for them. Make them love you. Identify them and follow them, grow with them and change as they do. Be fast and agile. Burger King is doing that and it has proved successful for them for the first time in a decade. None of the franchisees are in the target demographic so none of them get the commercials. So they dont like them. The funny thing is theyre not supposed to like them. The commercials arent for them. But their ego is getting in the way. They want to like the commercials. They want to give them their stamp of approval. They think they know everything. A lot of business owners are this way. Entrepreneurs have big egos. Its part of being an entrepreneur. But the ones that find true success and wealth are the ones that can put their ego aside and surround themselves with people who know more about all the subjects that they themselves arent uniquely and 100% qualified to do. For every point of ego you add to your marketing you subtract one point of effectiveness. Many small business owners ads are 100% ego driven and they 100% fail. Jimmy Vee and Travis Miller are the authors of “The Ten Tall Tales Of Traditional Advertising That Cost You Tons” and their newest release, “The Small Business Owners Guide To The Galaxy: Jim & Traviss Super-Stellar, Out Of This World, Step-By-Step Guide To Generating Leads, Attracting Customers and Making Sales.” Get FREE small business marketing tips, shortcuts and secrets - RIGHT NOW - at http://www.GravitationalMarketing.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jimmy_Vee http://EzineArticles.com/?Small-Business-Marketing-Tip-4:-Ego-Normous—Learn-Marketing-From-The-King&id=93329 order viagra air travel adipex meridia online phentermine presciption viagra xenical 100mg buy sildenafil viagra without prescription

Gag Gifts

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Adriana Copaceanu Gag gifts can be very funny. They can also cause pain for the recipient, so you must choose your gag gift carefully. Be sure your recipient has a sense of humor about what you are going to “gag” him about. The gag, while funny, must also be tasteful rather than ridiculing some fault of the recipient. Some people make jokes about themselves, their fat, their bald head, their bad leg that makes them limp, etc. It’s okay for them to ridicule their own body but can really hurt when someone else does the ridiculing. Often they ridicule themselves because they are sensitive about what they see as a problem and want to say something funny about it before anyone else does. So approach these gag gifts as a friend and with caution and concern for the recipient. -For the guy who’s always looking for an excuse to go fishing, get him a T-shirt or a coffee mug that says just that - I’d rather be fishing or Gone fishing. You can also get a get talking fish to hang on his wall. -Get a bumper sticker that shows their latest hobby. Grandma’s love the ones that say I’d rather be with my grandkids ’cause I can play and send them home, etc. -For someone’s fortieth birthday, hang black crepe paper, decorate a cake with black icing saying “over the hill” in white icing. -Someone you know is retiring? Get a sign that looks like a handicapped sign but says “retired” and the date of his retirement to hang in his car. -Your recipient has a hard time making up their minds. Get them a affirmation fortune telling ball. Every time you turn it upside down, you get a new affirmation that is cheerful or a compliment that is cheerful and will lift their spirits. -Is someone always stealing your pen at work? Get a shocking pen. It delivers a small electrical shock when he picks it up and tries to use it. -Your Dad thinks he is the best BBQ Chef around? Get him an apron saying the “Iron Chef” or one that has flames coming up from the bottom him, or that says he’s the King of Meats. -You have someone in the family who is always wanting to bet to prove his point? Get him a two headed quarter so he can always be right. -The latest gag T-shirt came from a recent TV series. Get a T-shirt that says “You’re Fired”. Who will love this? Anyone with a sense of humor. Hungry? South African Food Offers An Amazing Variety in Dishes

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Sarah H Many people get fed up of eating the same thing for dinner week after week. For those who have an adventurous palette South African food can be a great change! The incredible blend of cooking style, presentation and spices can be attributed to this nations incredible history. South Africa has emerged as a polyglot cuisine. Many factors have contributed to this, such as: European colonization, the adaptation of the native Bantu cooking, and massive immigration of foreigners and workers. The Dutch settlers brought with them their specific forms of agriculture, and the British merchants imported the “mixed grills” that now include African game meats. French cultivated the vineyards, known worldwide today. The Malay contribution was the curries, adding spice to a traditionally drab English-Dutch influence. The Indians of the British Empire who came to construct railroads influenced South African cuisine with dals, lentil soups, and curries. Game meat or as it is often called: wild meat, and lamb, the famous South African lobster, and a wide variety of fish add to a truly cosmopolitan cuisine. However in the smaller towns where mostly native Africans reside, the main meals remain starch and stew based. South Africa’s most unusual meat is called Biltong. Its a spicy form of jerky, usually wind-dried, and is commonly used in traveling. This can be found not only country wide, but throughout Africa. African villages boast of the more traditional African foods. The villagers diet often consist of milk, curds and whey, and dishes of steamed or boiled green vegetables, peas, beans, and cereals. And of course not a day can go by without the starches: cassava, yams, and sweet potatoes. Outside of Muslim Africa, alcoholic beverages contribute to an integral part of the African diet. South Africa is celebrated for the production of good quality white and red wines. In addition to this South Africa also produces a tangerine based liqueur called Van Der Hum. Tusker, the famous Kenyan beer, is exported for those who want to recreate a meal. Beer goes well with most African cuisine. South Africa is home to numerous population groups with different languages, cultural backgrounds and origins. The province of Natal is home to about one million Indians, whose forefathers came to South Africa to work on the sugarcane plantations. In addition to this there are also about three million people of mixed race, commonly dubbed “coloureds,” living in the Cape region. They are descendants of the first Dutch settlers and the native population of the Cape (Khoikhoi) or the Malays, who were taken to South Africa as slaves from East India in the 18th century. Thus South African cuisine is a true reflection of the cooking talents and traditions of all these peoples.
